Spirits were high as students nervously lined up waiting for their first swimming events but the day was all about having a bit of fun.
Students were encouraged to dress up in Hawaiian-themed outfits for Hawaiian-themed games and events.
Students took on the theme by jumping into hula skirts, floral headpieces and colourful leis.
Sportsmanship was an overarching theme of the day and students did not disappoint.
“It was encouraging to see so many students supporting and cheering for each other throughout the day,” Mathoura Public School’s Janice Eddy said.
Gemma Van Zutphen was awarded with a Certificate of Sportsmanship for being a brilliant role model to her peers.
Gemma not only participated in every single event, but also encouraged and supported all other competitors on the day.
The winning house was Moira, with Gulpa close on their heels, proving students’ keen sense of competitiveness in the pool this year.
