‘Thrive’ is the fitting theme of this year’s festival, showcasing local creatives through events and experiences across the region.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Kim O’Keeffe said the partnership had come at an exciting time for the region’s art and culture developments.
“How fortunate we are to have such incredible people and community that want to participate, that want to be involved and to be a part of the conversation,” she said.
“The Shepparton Festival has been for many years a driving force and enabler for the region’s creative industries and council is very proud to continue this wonderful partnership for the next three years, as we collectively work together to grow the sector for our community and visitors.”
Shepparton Festival general manager Louise Tremper said Shepparton Festival was thrilled to partner again with council.
“This new contract means we can focus on delivering an amazing festival in 2022 and beyond,” she said.
“Arts and creative experiences strengthen this place of ours, and that’s the role of art — it brings people together to celebrate our cultures, history, creativity and this region’s strengths.”
The festival draws crowds from across the state — this year’s events are expected to pull in 30,000 people.
“This does wonders for our local community, assisting with COVID-19 recovery, increasing public engagement, bringing visitors to the region and helping keep local businesses busy,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
This year’s festival will run for 16 days — from March 18 to April 3 — and will be the third and final year for the Shepparton Festival choir.
The team is singing out for more choir members to join and perform at the festival opening and at Converge on the Goulburn; Ms Tremper said no matter the skill set, all were welcome.
