Local DJs, musicians, artists, athletes and more special guests will be at the Maude St Mall venue, while 100 per cent of silent auction and knock-off drinks sales will go directly towards the bushfire appeal.
The Deck’s owner, Frankie Lagana, said the event idea came from noticing more people staying in Shepparton in the holiday period, as opposed to going on holiday.
“We said we should do something — it’s good as the town is busier and we can take advantage of people being here and put it towards the good cause,” he said.
“DJs and local artists have jumped on board and provided entertainment for free.”
Mr Lagana said the idea was incredibly well received; bookings have already started filling out the venue for the Friday of the Australia Day weekend.
The Deck will be providing a silent auction from 11 am, while punters can give through donation jars and online raffles throughout the day.
From 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm, 100 per cent of all sales will go directly towards the bushfire appeal. «« the relief funds comprise to the Salvation Army, Australian Red Cross, NSW Rural Fire Service and the CFA. »»
In total, The Deck will be hosting three bushfire appeal events across its franchises; there will also be appeals at the Geelong and Ballarat venues.
All three events’ total money donations will be spread across the Salvation Army, Australian Red Cross, NSW Rural Fire Service and the CFA.
Mr Lagana said there would be a donation jar and people could give to online raffles too.
“It’s all about helping people who are going through a tougher time,” he said.
