Three categories have been announced as the Campaspe Shire calls for nominations for the 2022 Australia Day awards.

There will again be no sportsperson of the year award, which was dropped in 2020 due to the lack of competition in the region.

Mayor Chrissy Weller said the awards were a great opportunity to recognise the outstanding contribution many residents provided on a day-to-day basis.

“We have many residents who volunteer tirelessly for their community, in many instances supporting multiple organisations,” Cr Weller said.

“This is what makes our shire a great place to live.”

Three award categories are available in each of the five local areas of Echuca and district, Kyabram and district, Rochester and district, Rushworth and district and Tongala and district. They are:

  • Citizen of the Year;
  • Young Citizen of the Year; and
  • Community Group of the Year.

Nominations can now be submitted on the council’s website; they close at 5pm on Friday, December 3.
