Emergency services were called to the scene at 12.13pm on Sunday.
They arrived to find one wrecked vehicle on the verge of the road in front of the United service station, amid debris and a steel light pole which had toppled over.
The other vehicle, a four-wheel drive, had continued south along the highway for more than 100m after the collision before running off the road and coming to a stop.

The air ambulance helicopter landed on a property next to the highway and transported one patient.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said the teenage girl was flown to Melbourne in a serious but stable condition with a head injury.

Traffic in both directions on the Goulburn Valley Hwy was diverted around the accident scene while police investigated the cause of the collision.
