After the Liberal campaign bus hit a literal roadblock on Monday morning, Mr Dutton looked to kick start his stalled federal election campaign.
But first, he faced questions after Vivek Singha, the Liberal candidate in the western Sydney seat of Fowler, was found to have used derogatory language to refer to Indigenous Australians in a series of social media posts from 2023.
Asked if he should be disendorsed, Mr Dutton turned the spotlight on Anthony Albanese, who has preferenced the Greens second in his own seat.
"This is an anti-Semitic, Jew-hating party, and they have been involved in all sorts of horrible, horrible doxxing and comments online that are repugnant but not repudiated by the prime minister," the opposition leader said.
Greens leader Adam Bandt said he wouldn't take lectures from a man who has "made a career out of punching down and hurting marginalised communities".
"We have been crystal clear. Australia is a multicultural society. We have always opposed anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, any form of racism," Mr Bandt told Seven News.
Mr Dutton made the comments after touring a food distribution facility in the NSW coastal town of Salamander Bay.
The family-run business had been struggling with tough economic conditions, like soaring energy prices and input costs, which Mr Dutton said he would help bring down.
The cost of living, he said, was the most important issue in the election, brushing off questions about a lack of transparency as "red herrings".
It was Mr Dutton's third visit in the election campaign to the electorate of Paterson, which Labor holds on a 2.6 per cent margin and the coalition has high hopes candidate Laurence Antcliff can seize.
The seat north of Newcastle is a must-win for Mr Dutton if he is to form government.
Trailing Mr Albanese in the polls, Mr Dutton has embarked on a last-ditch blitz to visit 28 electorates before polls close on May 3.
But his frenetic final week of the campaign had a less than ideal start when a bus carrying the travelling media contingent beached itself on a concrete bike-lane divider as it was pulling away from the hotel in Sydney's city centre on Monday morning.
About 40 journalists, camera operators and media advisers spilled onto Pitt St as the driver attempted to dislodge the vehicle, delaying the press pack by about 40 minutes.
With the help of a jack and some handy pieces of plywood, the bus was eventually back on track and headed to the airport.
Mr Dutton was spared the drama; he travels in a separate car.Â
The Liberal leader has upped his campaign focus on stamping out violence against women, pledging $20 million for a domestic violence trauma centre in the bellwether seat of Robertson on the NSW Central Coast.
