The contract for floor level surveys in Kialla, Mooroopna and Shepparton was awarded to Onley Consulting Pty Ltd for $300,631.31.
Delivered in partnership with Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority, it will collect updated floor level data to support emergency flood planning.
The survey will cover Kialla, Mooroopna, Shepparton, Shepparton East and North, Toolamba and rural areas near major waterways, aiming to strengthen local flood mapping and intelligence.
It will also support agencies such as VICSES in planning for and responding to flood events, including evacuations.
Surveyors will require access to property doorsteps from mid-April to mid-September.
They will carry identification and a letter from council, and will not enter homes or outbuildings.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said the project would help Greater Shepparton be flood ready.
“This is a crucial investment in our community’s safety, helping us better prepare for future flood events,” he said.
“By updating our flood data, we are equipping emergency services and council with the tools they need to better protect lives, property and infrastructure in the face of potential disasters.”
