The park is a result of joint funding from the Victorian Government and from Mitchell Shire Council.
The $233,000 project is set for completion by October 2026.
It will feature a fully fenced main area, a separate ‘shy dog’ zone, and three double-gated secure entries.
Additional amenities will include agility equipment, logs, mounds, a sand digging pit, all-abilities seating, solar lighting and new tree plantings.
Council interim chief executive Mary Agostino said the facility addressed community needs.
“This project responds directly to what the community asked for during consultation for the Chittick Park Masterplan,” Ms Agostino said.
“It not only meets the needs of local dog owners but will help activate a part of the park that’s currently underused — supporting social connections, wellbeing and safety.”
The government has contributed $166,500 through its New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program, with council providing the remaining $66,500.
