The second round of the CFA VFVB State Firefighter Championships was held at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve across Saturday and Sunday.
More than 100 urban and rural fire brigades competed at the championships across two weekends of firefighting action.
Aside from the state championships, onlookers also had firefighting equipment displays, training drills, souvenir stores, CFA department display areas, trade displays and food and beverage vans to keep them entertained.
The opening weekend's action on March 22-23 focused on junior firefighting drills, while the second had the adults take centre stage for the majority of the competition.
Tatura Fire Brigade senior runner Hayley Rennie enjoyed a successful day of competing as her side came first in the dry aggregate category.
“I have been running for about 12 years and I am very competitive,” Rennie said.
“I came first in the one-person Marshall and broke my own personal record.
“We all celebrate our wins together.
“It is so exciting to see those who have been trying to place first for the last five years, get a first this year.
“It is also great that we have the women’s events now.
"We have more opportunities to win and to better ourselves.”
The annual torchlight procession was held on Saturday night, with the brigades marching through Mooroopna with LED-powered lanterns.
Two teams from Western Australia made the journey east to take part.
