Council seeking locals to join new advisory committee

Mitchell Shire Council is calling on community members to shape the future of walking and cycling by joining a new Active Transport Advisory Committee.

The committee will bring together community representatives, councillors, council staff, Victoria Police and the Department of Transport and Planning to discuss and enhance active transport participation.

The group will meet quarterly, shifting to bi-annual meetings by agreement, and include six to eight community members passionate about walking, cycling, or local advocacy.

Council aims to include a diverse mix of ages, backgrounds, and geographic areas.

"Whether you walk for leisure, ride for fitness, or want safer, more connected pathways in your town, this is your chance to help influence real change," Mitchell Shire Mayor Cr John Dougall said.

"This is about more than infrastructure - it's about building healthier, more connected and inclusive communities where everyone feels safe and supported to walk or ride."

Residents who live, work or own land in the Mitchell Shire are encouraged to apply.
