It was the second home destroyed by fire in the local CFA district in a matter of days.
A house in Mooroopna’s Rodney Park Dve burned down in an early morning blaze on Sunday, March 23, according to the CFA.
There’s no indication at this time that the fires are connected, according to police.
CFA District 22 Commander Rod Railton said the Mooroopna fire was called in around 5.30am on Sunday, and responding crews had the blaze under control by roughly 6.30am.
Mr Railton said the house was occupied and two people were taken to hospital for assessment and treatment of minor burns and smoke inhalation.
According to Ambulance Victoria, a male in his 60s and a female in her 50s were transported to Goulburn Valley Health, both in stable condition.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.
Mr Railton said the Katunga fire was at an unoccupied home, and had been burning for some time before crews were alerted Wednesday night.
The fire was under control by 11.43pm, he said, after 10 fire trucks and two support vehicles responded.
Mr Railton said the cause of that fire was still under investigation.
There was no damage to surrounding properties.
Mr Railton said fire activity in the past few weeks had not been particularly notable for this time of year.
“Fire-wise, it’s been relatively normal,” he said.
