Clinic owner Dr Ayon Guha said waiting times for patients had reduced from three to four weeks to, often, just a single day.
“Some days, patients can be seen by a doctor on the day they want to make an appointment,” Dr Ayon said.
The number of doctors has increased from six to 14 with doctors moving between the two clinics on either side of the border.
The new doctors have come from different parts of the country, including Sydney and Melbourne.
Yarrawonga Medical Clinic is a teaching facility for registrars and interns and some of the doctors have returned permanently after training at the clinic.
“Yarrawonga Mulwala is an attractive lifestyle destination and people are capitalising on the attractive nature of the towns,” Dr Ayon said.
Dr Ayon and his wife, Dr Wen Guha took over the Yarrawonga Medical Clinic in Hume St in 2023 from previous owners, Dr Clyde Ronan and his wife, practice nurse Lyndy.
They moved from Redgum Medical Group in Corowa and have a wealth of experience in general practice, emergency medicine and anaesthetics.
In April last year, they opened Mulwala’s first medical clinic, The Mulwala Medical Centre, which is also a specialist skin clinic.
Opening hours for both clinics are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm.
