Melbourne Cup day was a relaxed affair around Shepparton this year.

Shepparton’s The Parklake restaurant hosted a few Melbourne Cup lunches, but general manager Kash Sharma thinks many residents took the opportunity to go away for the weekend instead.
“Last year it was crazy,” he said.
At The Deck in Shepparton, punters took the day to relax and enjoy some cocktails.
No fascinators were seen in the lead-up to 3pm, as the Peppermill Inn in Kialla filled up with groups of family and friends catching up.
The dress code was casual as everyone gathered outside in the sun.
Great day out: Emma O’Hern and Antonetta Latorre took the opportunity to dress up and head to lunch for cup day at The Parklake.
