Mitchell Community Energy and Mitchell Shire Council launched the two services at the Seymour Library, with attendees being introduced to MCE’s Energy Hub and the Goulburn Murray Solar Savers program.
The Energy Hub will act as a resource centre, allowing those within the Mitchell Shire to access practical tips on cutting their power bills, information on energy-efficient appliances, and guidance on cost-effective solar options.
Alongside this, the new Solar Savers program will be offering vetted suppliers and financial support, including rebates and low-interest loans for solar panels, batteries and energy-efficient appliances.
The program is a collaborative effort with the Mitchell Shire Council, and the launch event saw Mitchell Shire Mayor Cr John Dougall delivering the official opening address.
“The MCE Energy Hub and the Solar Savers program are significant steps towards empowering our community to make informed energy choices and embrace sustainable practices,” Cr Dougall said.
“The council is committed to supporting residents in reducing their energy costs and transitioning to a cleaner, more affordable energy future.”
Based at the Seymour Library, the MCE Energy Hub is now open to the public on the third Saturday of each month.
Locals are encouraged to visit the Hub on March 15 to learn more about energy-saving strategies and available resources.
