The Petstock Foundation’s National Pet Adoption Month aims to help find a home for the more than 10,000 animals currently in need.
Petstock Shepparton store manager Maddy Cox said the store was once again working with Goulburn Valley Pet Adoption and Rehoming for the adoption event on Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23.
“They’re going to come here on March 22 and 23 and they will bring over some kittens to adopt out,” she said.
“But daily, we’re doing roundups for all the donations to go towards (Goulburn Valley Pet Adoption and Rehoming).”
Kittens will be available on the day, similar to Pippin and Tot. Pictured with the kittens is Petstock Shepparton’s third in charge Karl Pendlebury with Pippin and manager Maddy Cox with Tot.

Money raised throughout March will go to the shelters, helping more and more pets be ready to be adopted.
“It’ll help these animals and these shelters to have the funds to be able to desex, microchip, vaccinate and then rehome as well,” Ms Cox said.
Petstock Foundation head Jessica Curtis said another issue in mind for a lot of people considering adoption was their rental properties didn’t allow pets.
“With housing situations in mind, National Pet Adoption Month is a chance for Australians to consider not only traditional pets like dogs and cats, but also smaller companions like guinea pigs, birds and reptiles that may be easier for renters to adopt,” she said.
With the initiative running through March, Mx Cox said there was no better time to consider adoption.
“I think for everyone when they’re looking at getting a new animal, (they should) go the adoption route ... with the amount that are out there, it’s definitely worth looking in the shelters,” Ms Cox said.
The adoption month has been running for 11 years, and so far, has helped rehome 41,000 pets.
