Travelling to Tallarook Recreation Reserve, Seymour won the toss and elected to bat, getting under way with solid top order contributions from Jason Brown (17) and Brett Gordon (16).
Lachlan Drummond provided the firepower, belting eight boundaries and a maximum en route to a brilliant 55 before being dismissed by Kalon Winnell (3-22), while Braidon Horkings provided a handy 20 runs as the visitors raced to 8-175 from their 45 overs.
However, Tallarook’s batting line-up had proven too potent for many teams so far this season and while Seymour found the early breakthrough removing Joshua Rudge for just two, Mitch Itter and skipper Lachlan Watts looked to have dug in.
The pair added 34 together before Itter was removed for 29, trapped in front by Simon Van Duinen, while the dangerous Leigh Irving was sent packing soon after, caught off the bowling of Drummond as the home side slumped to 3-69.
Things went from bad to worse for Tallarook, as no-one outside the top four mustered a score beyond five, with the wickets falling thick and fast in the middle and lower order.
Skipper Lachlan Watts remained at the crease, with the number three managing 44 runs as he tried to resurrect the innings, however once he fell there was no hope left, with Seymour steamrolling its way to a 41-run victory.
Daniel Bergowicz finished with team-best figures of 4-27 with the ball, while Drummond added 3-26 to go with his half-century with the bat.
Seymour now finds itself atop the standings with just one round to play, having gone unbeaten in five weeks, while Tallarook’s second consecutive loss saw it fall to second.
Elsewhere in A-grade, Yea proved far too strong for Pyalong to cement itself in third place, while Alexandra beat Puckpanyal by a run in the remaining fixture.
In B-grade, Avenel remains well clear on top after beating Alexandra by five wickets, Tallarook beat Yea by 72 runs and Pyalong had an eight-wicket win over Seymour.
