That shot turned into her becoming a ‘Young Gun’, a title given to individuals selected by the Australian Independent Rural Retailers.
This prestigious program recognises emerging leaders within the agriculture industry and offers additional skills, training and confidence to allow them to thrive in the retail sector.
Ms Rusic was initially named in the top 10.
Then, the top five.
And on Monday, February 17, she topped the ranks when she was announced as the winner of the 2024/2025 AIRR Young Guns program at AIRR’s annual conference.
“I am incredibly honoured to be recognised as the 2024/2025 AIRR Young Guns winner,” Ms Rusic said.
“This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing team and support from the community.”
Ms Rusic’s leadership came to the forefront in September 2024 when she hosted the inaugural Tallarook Rural Supplies Rural Mega Expo at the Seymour Racing Club.
The masses were welcomed to the event with show bags, random door prizes, and raffle opportunities while exploring over 20 suppliers covering everything from livestock feed to veterinary services.
Additionally, the expo offered valuable educational talks on topics such as regenerative farming and equine exercise rehabilitation, capturing the interest of local producers and businesses.
On behalf of Tallarook Rural Supplies, owner James Anderson expressed pride in Ms Rusic’s work at the expo and her recent achievement.
“This program and the Rural Mega Expo reflect her commitment to helping our local community and the agricultural industry grow,” he said.
“It’s a well-deserved recognition of her hard work and vision.”
