With a few boys away last week, seven junior golfers played the 9-hole comp at 8am and were lucky to receive some expert tips from golfing guru Sandy Jamieson while playing their rounds.
Jacob continued on his great form from last year with a huge stableford score of 26 points, with Joseph a close second with 25 points in his first time at Rutherglen.
A reminder that this comp is open to all juniors in the area regardless of whether they are a Rutherglen member, and there are plenty of great prizes on offer. Entry is $5 each week with more details on the Rutherglen Golf Club’s facebook page.
It was another good turnout for the Young Guns training with the younger group keen to swing the clubs again after the Christmas/New Year break.
New Junior Golf Co-ordinator Adriaan Foote took the kids through some driving drills before they played a shortened 4-hole format.
It was great to see lots of new faces this year and over 20 kids on what was a hot morning on the course.
If any kids from ages 5 to 12 are keen to join in the fun on a Saturday, please contact the Rutherglen Club via Facebook, Kristy Chandler on 0438 425 402, or Frank Baring on 0429 685 455.
Well done to all members contributing to the club receiving the Indigo Shire Community Organisation of the Year at the recent Australia Day Awards.
