David Bowie once sung 'Golden Years' and Hunt, 34, is set to live it. In cahoots with 34-year-old Reynolds he has his sights on winning a title at the club which gave him his NRL debut way back in 2009.
You have to go back to 1996 when Manly's Cliff Lyons, 34, and Des Hasler, 35, played together in the halves to find an older halves pairing in the NRL.
That Manly duo did not play as halves partners often in that premiership-winning season, whereas Hunt and Reynolds will start in the trial against Canterbury on Saturday night and when the NRL season kicks off in a fortnight.
Between them, Hunt and Reynolds have played 621 NRL games. It is that nous Hunt said would benefit the side most.
"I just think it's our experience and calmness," he said of his first Broncos hitout in eight years.
"There's a lot of exciting and young electric players in this team. If we can come together and bring a calmness to the group and really control our footy and get us around the park, that will benefit us most.
"I will just play controlled football and it's about doing my job and letting the guys do theirs.
"I have known Reyno for a long time. He is a great fella and a team man and he will go out and do his job."
Rugby league historian and statistician David Middleton said Manly utilised their veterans well in unison in 1996, even though Geoff Toovey was the regular half when available.
He could foresee it working well for the Broncos, in just the way that Hunt outlined.
"(Hunt) is another cool head on the field and helps lower the temperature when things are getting away from them," Middleton told AAP.
"There is no downside to it. It is something incredibly valuable to have up their sleeve."
Hunt said he would play on the left side of the field defensively and float around with Reynolds in attack. There is no suggestion he will play hooker, at least not until  Ezra Man returns from suspension in round 10.
"I haven't done any work at nine. I think Madge (coach Michael Maguire) is still trying to work out what he wants from nine and which guys he wants to play," Hunt said.
"It's a pretty talented group of boys putting their hands up. He has definitely said to me at some stage I will end up in there. Whatever day that is or when it comes, I will get the shoulder pads on."
Hunt said he felt privileged to be back at the club where it all began and has dared to dream of a golden ending to his career.
"There was always a part of me that wanted to come home. I'm back where I started which is exciting," he said.
"It would be pretty special to win (a title). To come back and finish my career here and go out with a premiership, it's what dreams are made of, so that's the ultimate goal and what we are setting out to do."
