On the first day of play on Thursday, Monique and her Moama Steamers teammates played four scheduled matches in their section.
Kicking off the competition against the Tasmanian Tridents, it was a great start with the Steamers taking a commanding win - 4-1.
In their second match of the day, the Steamers met a strong Melbourne Pulse.
Pulse took the win, 4-1.
The third match was against the Sydney Lions, who won 5-0, but the nil score from the Steamers did not reflect the contest.
In the fourth game, the Steamers turned the tables, defeating the Moreton Bay Pirates 5-0.
The Moama side’s final section game was on Friday, against the Bowls ACT team.
Having finished with a 05 to 4.5 loss, the Steamers did not progress to finals.
Nonetheless, Monique had a great experience playing high-level bowls against other young bowlers, as well as seeing the adults competing in their sections.
“Monique had an incredible time at the junior BPL21 cup. Whilst she didn't make the final, it certainly was the creation of a core memory,” her mother Carly Crothers said.
“So many lessons learnt were from an incredibly supportive crew.
“Her highlight was Thursday night, especially leading out the senior team (consisting of a Commonwealth medallist and Jackaroo team member) live on Fox Sports/kayo.
“I'm told she has seven more years to aim for that junior cup, and then the senior cup will be after that.
“Apparently, she tells me she will also one day be at the Olympics for the Matildas (soccer) and the Commonwealth Games for the Jackaroos (bowls).”
