Ms Cox, likely known by many locals as a Mathoura girl, has come full circle.
She is returning to Deniliquin South Public School - where she has taught previously - to get back to her roots.
She also has previous experience as a classroom teacher in Mathoura.
This time, Ms Cox returns to South in the role of assistant principal curriculum and instruction.
Since her last time at South School about 10 years ago, Ms Cox has been working with the NSW Department of Education, in its Deniliquin office co-located with Deniliquin High School.
She worked with about 90 schools throughout the Murrumbidgee region, including during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
She also worked with the department’s Safeguarding Kids Together program, which involved travelling statewide.
Ms Cox said what brought her back is the role at South, and the chance to stay put in a welcoming community.
“It is the Deniliquin community, as well as more full-time work, rather than travelling so much part-time.”
“It is such an incredible team and community here.
“I’ve done a lot, and it feels like I have come full circle.
“I’m extremely grateful for the great opportunity, and I’m looking forward to it.”
In her role as assistant principal for 2025, Ms Cox said her goal is to build on “great literacy and numeracy”.
Barbara Cox is returning to Deni South School after 10 years.
