For Cobram student Adithi Gurunathan, such a chance has come knocking.
The Cobram Secondary College senior has been selected to attend the prestigious London International Youth Science Forum 2025.
Adithi will get the chance to listen to Nobel Prize-winning scientists speak about their field, learn in world-class laboratories and network with other curious minds from up to 80 countries around the world.
“I still haven’t really processed it,” she said.
“It’s scary, kind of, because it’s so far away.”
But already the community is supporting her in her venture. Former CSC student and dairy farmer Nathan Shannon has come forward to sponsor Adithi on her trip.
The coveted program is held at the Imperial College London each year, and includes trips to nearby Cambridge and Oxford Universities.
Meanwhile, the next five months are set to be a busy time for Adithi.
She said she has her passport ready, but still needs to apply for a visa and travel insurance.
And, of course, pack her bags.
The news arrived just weeks after Adithi returned from Queensland, where she participated in the National Youth Science Festival.
Adithi said she’s considering what it might be like to study at Oxford University.
“To study medicine at Oxford would be a dream come true,” she said.
