Rochester Secondary College’s Art Club students are spreading kindness in celebration of Random Acts of Kindness Day on Monday, February 17 through handmade bookmarks.
The bookmarks will be distributed to visitors of Campaspe library branches in Rochester, Lockington, and Colbinabbin as well as the Goldfields libraries and Elmore library agency.
Rochester librarian Natalie Lonsdale said the bookmarks are well received by their patrons.
“We have many library patrons who appreciate arts and crafts, and these bookmarks are a big hit because they’re not only creative but also personal,” she said.
The bookmarks have been specially painted by the students with watercolours and contain quotes highlighting the power of kindness.
Through the handmade bookmarks, students hope to highlight how creativity, compassion, and a small act of kindness can come together to brighten someone’s day and inspire kindness within the community
The College’s assistant principal Mitchell Bright said the school encourages students to practice kindness.
“At Rochester Secondary College, we encourage our students to embrace kindness in all they do,” he said.
“This project is a wonderful way for them to share their creativity while making a positive impact in the community.”
