The Finley product and former Goulburn Valley Suns junior paid her dues in the professional game over the past three years in hopes of nailing down a starting spot in the A-League Women’s fold.
It has now arrived - and she’s been rewarded for it.
On Tuesday, Brisbane Roar confirmed Varley had penned a fresh two-year contract extension that will see her remain at the club through to the end of 2026-27 season.
The 23-year-old centre back was overjoyed to confirm her place at the Roar for the foreseeable future.
“I am excited to extend my time here at Brisbane Roar,” Varley said.
“The club, this season, has given me a chance to really make a name for myself in the league and I know I will only keep advancing as a footballer every time I walk out in the Roar colours.
“This season, I believe, is only a taste of a new era for the Brisbane Roar which the fans should be excited about. Something special is definitely building and just like before I have no doubt Roar will be back to lifting trophies.
“I look forward to many more games at Perry Park with sold out crowds. For the next two seasons, Roar will be my family and home.”
Varley has come in leaps and bounds since her time at McEwen Reserve.
She featured in the Suns’ youth sides - often being the only girl on the park - during the club’s formative years before breaking into the National Premier League scene in Melbourne.
Her shot at the nation’s top flight manifested in late 2021 as she was picked up by Adelaide United, but after five appearances for the Reds, Varley returned to the NPL.
A move to Melbourne City for the 2023-24 season saw the defender play a further five games, but her true break occurred when Brisbane Roar came calling.
This season, Varley has cemented her position at the Roar having started in 14 games, making a total of 64 clearances, 10 blocks, 25 interceptions and scoring her first A-League goal in an 8-2 victory over Western United in round eight.
