The major regional tennis tournament is currently being held in Swan Hill. However, on Monday it was announced that Country Week would be returning to Greater Shepparton.
The 2026 edition of Country Week will be held at Shepparton Lawn Tennis Club and Mooroopna Recreation Reserve from February 8-13.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said he was thrilled the region would be hosting the event again after successful editions in 2014 and 2019.
“Unfortunately due to the October 2022 floods in our region, Shepparton was unable to host the 2023 Country Week, so it is fair to say we are very excited to have this prestigious event back in 2026,” he said.
“This event will provide an amazing boost for our visitor economy with visitors staying a week in the region, helping support our accommodation, hospitality, retail, visitor attractions and entertainment sectors, helping keep our businesses busy and our economy strong with a $2 million-plus economic injection.”
More than 1300 participants and 222 teams are currently taking part in the Tennis Victoria Country Week in Swan Hill, with similar numbers expected for next summer.
Seventy-six temporary grass courts will be built in Mooroopna to help run the event.
Tennis Victoria CEO Kim Kachel said he was “delighted” that the Country Week tournament was returning to Greater Shepparton.
“The Shepparton Lawn Tennis Club has a proud history of supporting tennis and hosting events,” he said.
“Shepparton is already lined up to host the under-12 and under-14 Grasscourt Nationals in December 2025, so it will be a real festival of grass court tennis in Shepparton next summer.”
Shepparton Lawn Tennis Club president Kevin Hicks said he was looking forward to opening the club up to the broader tennis community.
“It’s an honour for our club (to) host Country Week 2026 alongside Greater Shepparton City Council,” he said.
“Our courts will be in top condition, as they are today, and we are fully committed to supporting the successful delivery of this event.”
Registrations for Tennis Victoria Country Week 2026 will open in mid-2025.
