Since its commencement on November 1, 2023, Victorians have returned over 1.4 billion containers to the state’s Container Deposit Scheme.
With the installation of a new Reverse Vending Machine refund point, members of the community will be able to recycle eligible glass or plastic bottles, cans, or cartons for 10 cents per drink container.
The refund can be redeemed as a cash voucher refundable at Coles supermarkets, via an electronic funds transfer, or as a donation to a charity.
There will also be a refund point in Broadford which follows on from Visy Container Deposit Scheme general manager Tim O’Donnell’s commitment to expanding the initiative across the region.
“We continue to expand our network of refund points in the Mitchell Shire Council to make recycling easy and rewarding for all,” Mr O’Donnell said.
The Reverse Vending Machine refund point in Seymour will be at Chittick Park, Pollard St, while that in Broadford will be found at the Broadford Leisure Centre, 35 Mollison St, Broadford.
The community can find their nearest refund point, and access their electronic refunds, through the CDS Vic North app for iOS or Android.
