Resuming play with Tonny at 6-78, 12 runs shy of first innings points against L-G, Tucker and Cowley got to work.
After toiling for a while, Cowley’s innings came to an end first, being trapped lbw by James Keath for 24 off 94 deliveries.
Zeke Neumann couldn’t hang around with Tucker, who by this point was beginning to motor along, being bowled by Simon Tatt for two.
Mitchell Cornwall, resigned to the fact he wasn't going to score much, allowed Tucker to continue carving out runs by standing firm down the other end.
Cornwall’s perseverance and Tucker’s aggression meant the pair put on a 82-run stand for the 10th wicket, taking the possibility for a reverse outright away from L-G.
Tucker blasted past a half-century and looked primed to bring up a monumental hundred as a number seven.
However, Tucker’s swashbuckling innings came to an end just short of the milestone after being bowled by Jye Keath.
Tucker’s 87 came in 180 balls, his counter-punching masterclass included 10 fours and a six.
The Blues lasted just five overs after Tucker’s dismissal, with Cornwall’s dismissal at the hands of James Keath bringing the innings to an end.
Simon Tatt (5-43) and James Keath (4-39) were prominent with the ball, claiming the majority of Tongala’s scalps from a combined 54 overs.
Despite having already lost, L-G went in to bat again, with nothing substantial eventuating from its second innings.
Opener Blake Gibson top-scored with 19, with no other batter making double-figures, the closest being Jye Keath who remained unbeaten on nine.
L-G only batted for 18 overs and finished its second innings at 5-46 with Hugo Monnich Vo claiming best figures for Tonny at 2-13.
While both teams are definitely out of the title race, the battle from pride continues between the two as there is a real case for the Blues to push L-G down to second last by season’s end.
