Lamb numbers increased with 5000 drawn for at Deniliquin’s recent sheep sale, with quality improved across the yarding.
All the usual buying group attended with good competition on the rail in a market ending with mixed results.
Light trade and store lambs were limited and sold slightly cheaper. Medium trade sold firm to $5 stronger, and the heavy trade sold $10 to $15 softer.
The heavy trade lambs made from $194 to $215/head to average 780c to 830c/kg cwt. Medium trade sold from $157 to $200/head.
Light trade made from $88 to $138/head. A large run of Dorper lambs were penned selling very well, making from $71 to $144 for the lighter run and from $138 to $188/head for the trade weights.
Mutton numbers slipped slightly to 2300 penned, and quality was patchy. Light weight mutton sold from $20 to $71/head.
Heavy Merino ewes made from $73 to $116/head. Heavy Dorper ewes sold from $96 to $150/head.
