Winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Lakers set about posting a strong total on a traditionally tough surface and outfield to make runs on.
After a couple of overs of play, it was evident that this was yet again the case with the Rovers Bruck bowlers generating a good amount of swing and seam.
The Lakers top order tumbled, losing 3-15 early in the piece.
Van Kreeck, elevated up the order showed great poise beyond his years at the crease as he looked to build a partnership with Clarke at the other end. However this was short lived as he was dismissed with some crafty bowling.
The Lakers wickets continued to fall as Captain Archibald set about resurrecting the innings.
The skipper played a lone hand at the crease reaching 26 runs of the teams total 70 before he was dismissed for the 10th wicket.
With plenty of time left in the match, the Lakers knew that if they could do some damage with the ball early, the pressure would begin to mount on the Rovers Bruck batting lineup.
Angus Heslin, in a rich vein of form, struck immediately, removing the dangerous Perera in the second over. Heslin continued on his rampage claiming the first 3 wickets of the innings to have the Rovers Bruck outfit in a spot of bother at 3-20.
In the final hours play, the Lakers continued to ramp up the pressure.
Van Kreeck claimed the scalp of the opposition captain McNamara before Angus McMillan grabbed the Lakers 5th.
The Lakers, hunting as a pack in the field were on the charge as chief destroyer Heslin was thrown the ball to close out the days play.
Heslin, with a delivery resembling a spitting cobra, claimed his 4th victim to have Wilson caught in the slips. Rovers United Bruck 6-40 to end the days play with the game right in the balance.
A reserve record back to back wins
A Res recorded a back to back win thanks to a brilliant 70 from John Taylor.
Winning the toss Yarra had no hesitation in electing to bat.
Things didn’t start well with Hill the first to go, probably still in shock that Smart took a quick single.
Smart and Buerckner got to work with a well-constructed 80 run partnership before Smart 44 started a mini collapse.
Lidgerwood promoted to A Reserve was keen to open his account, a little too keen and found himself sort of his ground, ensuring he would be collecting the cones at days end.
Buerckner 32 and Jack Connell 3 departed in quick succession leaving the score at 5/84.
Nehal Tahir took his time to settle the innings along with John Taylor who arrived in style to Vic Park looking very fresh after staying well hydrated Friday night.
Taylor was punishing anything loose belting 8 four and 1 six, swinging his bat that hard splitting his bat in half. An 88-run partnership was appreciated by the crowd, with club legend “Jug” O’Brien 12 and “Doc” Lovell 13 remaining not out pushing the score past 200.
After some yum yums it was Gus Browning with his contacts in who was hitting areas with multiple play and misses.
Gus finished his 8 with 3/16, things looked good at 3 for 49. Soon 4 for 56 with TJ Docking claiming his first probably the pick of the bowlers along with Browning.
A partnership of 70 between Solimo and Marek sent a few nerves through the home side before that man Taylor and Lidgerwood had both back in the sheds with the score at 127.

Under 12 Lakers resume with a win
The young Lakers finally got the chance to take the field after the Xmas break after a forfeit last week, and amazingly because of the nuances of the draw got to face the same side in Wang Maggies black for the 4th time this season.
Luckily, the Lakers have had the wood on this side and last weekend was no different. After winning the toss and deciding to bat, Eamon Pickering and Finn McDonald opened up proceedings.
Eamon was batting well before a mix up saw him run out for 12, whilst Finn carried on retiring on 13 which is his highest score.
Next in was Ollie McDonald and Billy Vagg who both struck the ball nicely and ran between the wickets well and retired on 6 and 14 respectively.
Darcy O’Dwyer and Rory Buerckner both have not been out for weeks, and as first year players are doing really well improving every week.
They retired on 7 and 3.
This bought in the big hitting Isaac McLarty and Rosie Lidgerwood. They ran hard between the wickets and both hit some balls to the fence and retired on 30 and 12.
The Lakers made a commanding 2/130 off their 20 overs. A dominant display in the field followed as all the kids bowled and fielded well.
Darcy was the pick of the bowlers with 2/3 off his 2 overs. Kirsty Plevnik was on a hattrick from the last game and narrowly missed out on it, before picking up a wicket a couple of balls later.
Eamon, Issac, Billy and Rosie all collected a wicket each. At the halfway mark of the Maggies innings, Yarra needed just 2 more wickets to wrap up the match.
Straight after drinks the first wicket fell, and then a stubborn partnership from the last pairing saw the Maggies bat out the rest of the overs, a real credit to those 2 kids.
Maggies finished on 8/65 off 20 overs.
Next Thursday after their first day back at school, the kids will take on another of the Yarra sides in the Bulls in a top 4 clash at Victoria Park.
