The Steamers visited winless Kangaroo Flat on Saturday and didn’t take their lowly opponents lightly, sweeping the four rinks in an 18-90 to 0-59 victory.
The Travis Kelly-skipped rink stood out as particularly dominant; Kelly, along with Jim Hogan (lead), Glenn Dorward (second), and Cassandra Millerick (third), scoring by far the biggest win of the match 28-10.
Kevin Anderson skipped the next best rink by margin, winning by six shots, 19-13.
Cameron Keenan (18-14) and Matt Robertson (25-22) also got the best of their Kangaroo Flat opposition as the Steamers secured maximum points.
The result creeps Moama closer to Bendigo at the top of the table after the leader could score only three of four rinks, and 16 points, in its match against Marong.
Moama is five points back from Bendigo and has a far superior shot difference should the tiebreaker be required.
With four rounds remaining, and a matchup between the top two looming on February 8, there is still plenty of opportunity for the Steamers to finish the regular season as minor premiers.
On Saturday in round 11, Moama will take on Marong, hosting the tie at Moama Bowling Club, while Bendigo will be on the road against Eaglehawk.
Both opponents are in the bottom three of the table, so another shootout for points may be on the horizon.
