The Ramsay Health Pink Triathlon was held in Melbourne on Sunday, and Tocumwal’s Angela Calam-Vanderhoek’s newfound love for cycling saw her achieve an incredible goal in pink style.

Angela invited Sophie Walsh and Abi Walsh to team up with her for this amazing cause, with the trio training hard for the past few months.
They set off on Sunday with Abi completing the 300m swim in eight minutes, Angela doing the 9km bike leg in 21 minutes and Sophie bringing the team home with a 5km run in 36 minutes.
Wanting to improve her fitness, Angela used cycling as a tool to build up muscle in areas she needed it with being easier on her knees.
She wanted to avoid running where possible and had solid encouragement from Jamie Haynes, who is an expert in the fitness department.
Angela thanks Jamie for his support and for cheering her on with her journey.
“You are never too old to try new things,” says Angela.
“Anything is possible if you just try and push yourself a little.”
Sophie and Abi are incredibly proud of Angela’s efforts in the lead up and on the day of the triathlon.
This sold-out event was incredibly popular and is not your average triathlon, which features all female participants and is lots of fun.
With the amazing support of the ‘Pinkies’ participants over the years, Tri Pink has raised over $2.5 million for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
The Melbourne event is the first in a series of six triathlons held in each state.
