The Good Friday Appeal has been part of Victoria’s community fabric since 1931, raising vital funds for Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital.

Every year, people from across the state come together to support the hospital’s life-saving work, helping children and their families through challenging times.

Locally, the Devenish, Dookie and District Good Friday Appeal has built a reputation for creative and community-driven fundraising. This year, its team has pulled together an exciting calendar of events to raise money for the 2025 appeal.

Here’s what’s coming up:

Sunday, January 26: The Yabby Races at the Gladstone Dookie pub return, offering a fun and lively day for everyone.
Thursday, March 13: The KHRE Barefoot Bowls Night is a chance to enjoy a laid-back evening with friends while contributing to a good cause.
Thursday, March 27 to Thursday, April 3: An online auction will run throughout the week, giving bidders the chance to snap up unique items and experiences while supporting the cause.
Sunday, March 30: Rock With a Reason will bring live music to the Dookie Football Ground. Performances from Sam & Sam, Nigel Parsons and DJ Liam Sanders will set the stage for a night to remember. Tickets are $60 each.
Sunday, April 6: Golf enthusiasts can tee off at the Hilltop Golf Day in Tatura. The event features a four-person ambrose format with a 9.30am start. Entry is $150 per person.
Friday, April 18 (Good Friday): The Show ’n’ Shine event in Dookie will wrap up the appeal’s fundraising efforts, with live music from Nigel Parsons, Owen Holleran and others.

With such a diverse range of events, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re a music fan, a sports lover or just looking for a fun day out, these activities offer the perfect way to get involved and support the Royal Children’s Hospital.
