A home fixture against Golden Square was the challenge in the first round back, with the visitor looking to take second spot on the ladder from Moama if it was successful.
However, it was the Steamers that demonstrated their quality, winning three of four rinks on the way to a 16-80 to 2-67 victory.
Skips Kevin Anderson and Matt Robertson shared the honours for largest margin of the tie, each earning Moama wins by eight shots.
Anderson’s foursome of Brock Keenan (lead), John Worledge (second) and Kevin Brennan, prevailed over a Dylan Fisher-led side 23-15, while Robertson’s team of Brian Davie (lead), Olivia Cartwright (second) and Peter Campbell (third) were successful 22-14.
Cameron Keenan also skipped a winning rink, earning a narrow victory, 16-14.
Bryce Young was the only Golden Square skip to earn his side points, picking up a 24-19 win in the remaining rink.
Moama solidified its top two position with the win, but wasn’t able to make up any ground on league-leader Bendigo, who also earned 16 competition points in their match-up with Kangaroo Flat.
This Saturday, Moama will make the trip to Kangaroo Flat Bowls Club, hoping to capitalise with maximum points against the competition’s winless side.
The Steamers are seven points behind Bendigo and boast a far superior shot difference.
Bendigo also looks to have a less challenging contest coming up, visiting second-last-placed Marong.
The competition has five regular season rounds remaining.
