Via its social media pages, it has been sharing updates on the best ways to keep yourself and loved ones safe over the summer period.
The RFS have said that there are four simple steps to being better prepared in the event of a fire.
The first is to discuss what is the best course of action in the event of a fire, whether it be deciding when you leave, will you stay and if you are prepared to stay, among a number of other discussion points.
The second step in keeping your property and family safe is to prepare your home and get ready.
Preparation for your home to be fire safe would include trimming any overgrown branches, trees and other bushes that could pose a threat and mowing the lawn so it is not a fire hazard itself.
In preparation, what is also important is removing any types of harmful material that could burn around your home, remove any debris from your yard, this includes branches, leaves and grass.
And the final step in preparing is having a reliable source of water at the home, a secured and sturdy hose will help in the event of a fire.
The third step is making yourself aware of the different alerts and warnings for fire in your area, this way you can act accordingly.
The last of the four overarching steps to fire preparedness is familiarising yourself with the correct fire information contacts, websites and apps, giving you the best chance of being safe.
Hot and windy conditions last week led to all fire permits being cancelled because of the high fire danger risk.
Landholders are asked to work to the condition and monitor their local RFS page for any cease harvest or permit cancellation alerts.
