PREMIUM News May: By Deniliquin Pastoral Times Jan 10, 2025 NSW Member for Murray Helen Dalton launched a petition to urge the NSW Government to “forbid” the transfer of any water to the Federal Government until a detailed analysis of the impacts can be completed. Mrs Dalton said 20,000 signatures are needed for the petition and its demands to be debated by parliament. The petition followed Mrs Dalton’s tour of South Australia and the Lower Lakes on a fact finding mission earlier this year, during which she made a short documentary. Deniliquin Business Chamber’s inaugural A-MAY-zing Weekend a success, encouraging locals and visitors alike to get out and explore what the Deniliquin business and tourism community has to offer. Sunday’s activities got people into the Deniliquin CBD, while Sunday’s activities included a Doggy’s Day Out with competitions, information stands and some fun activities for the four-legged guests and their owners. Photo by Rebecca Flisher Jaxon Ives showed his versatility, reaching state representative level for both basketball and netball. The Edward Public School student went to Albury to trial for basketball for the Riverina PSSA team and Wagga for the first year for the Southern Inland boys netball trials. Jaxon was successful in being selected for both. Another batch of young local women explored male-dominated trades as a future career through the ‘Girls Can Too!’ program, administered by NSW Training Services Regional Industry Education Partnerships through Deniliquin TAFE. Explored in 2024 were trades like concreting, plumbing, electrotechnology, construction and engineering. Deniliquin High School’s Year 10 students went out in to the district community for the annual work experience program. Deni PT work experience student Grace Allitt caught up with a few of them, including Aria Taylor (pictured) who spent the week learning from the medical imaging team at Deniliquin Hospital. Navorina Aged Care put the call out to the community to enhance the home-like feel it provides for residents, requesting funding to purchase furniture for the newly renovated facility.
