Local residents have been taking to social media to call out those who have left without disposing of their rubbish is a safe, healthy and correct manner.
Among those frustrated is Tocumwal resident Anne Beveridge, who snapped a photo of just some of the rubbish left along the river.
“We live in a little street - Chanter St in Tocumwal - which runs opposite the river, and we saw all of it (the rubbish) left on the levy bank,” she said.
Mrs Beveridge said the rubbish was abandoned in a ‘no camping’ area.
“You’re not allowed to even camp there, and this group left the bags full of rubbish, as you can see in the picture.
“It’s just hideous.
“I feel very bitter and twisted.
“People come into our gorgeous area and just treat it like a pig sty.
“You would think youngies with their education would know better.”
Mrs Beveridge said the onus is on the people who “spoil it for those who do the right thing and, on the whole, leave a positive impact on the region”.
“It’s just crap behaviour, and it’s laziness,” she said.
“Noone is allowed to camp there, so there’s no dumping facilities.
“It’s a real shame, and it makes me so upset that these people think they can treat it with this disrespect.”
