Nevaeh Rosmulder made waves by participating in four concerts as part of the massed choir at the Schools Spectacular, demonstrating her vocal prowess alongside fellow talented students from across the state.
In a remarkable display of inclusivity and talent, Nevaeh, along with Zali Mathieson and Harper Mathieson, performed in the State Auslan Choir at Elevate the Stage.
The trio had the honour of accompanying renowned musician Iva Davies as he sang his iconic song ‘Great Southern Land’. Their heartfelt performance, which beautifully integrated Auslan signing, captivated the audience and highlighted the importance of representation in the arts.
The school extends its heartfelt gratitude to Michelle Rosmulder, a dedicated teacher, for her invaluable support in teaching the students the signs to the songs.
Her guidance was instrumental in preparing them for such a significant event.
The school community also appreciates the unwavering support from families, which played a crucial role in the students’ success.
A special highlight of the Elevate the Stage event was the presence of NSW Minister for Families and Communities and Disability Inclusion the Hon Kate Washington and a proud former student of Mulwala Public School.
Minister Washington expressed her pride in meeting the talented students and witnessing their performances firsthand.
Elevate the Stage is not only a celebration of talent but also a powerful acknowledgement of unity, acceptance, and diversity, coinciding with the International Day of People with Disability.
School terms to align with Victoria
In other news, Mulwala Public School is set to align its school term dates with those of Victoria starting in 2025, a decision that promises to ease the burden for families with children attending schools on both sides of the border.
This significant change aims to create a more cohesive educational experience for students and their families.
Beginning in 2025, students at Mulwala Public School will commence their school year on Monday, February 3.
Principal Gayle Pinn is excited to announce this change.
“This reflects our commitment to supporting our students and their families,” Ms Pinn said.
“By aligning with Victoria’s term dates, we are fostering greater collaboration and participation in community events, ensuring that our students can enjoy a rich educational experience.”
As the school prepares for this transition, further details regarding the complete term calendar will be shared with the community.
Ms Pinn said the Mulwala Public School is dedicated to keeping parents informed and engaged throughout this process.
