Corowa rungetter Matt Wilson has been able to play both cricket and football for Corowa over the years but that’s going to end in 2025 as the star number four batsman and second, but good wicketkeeper for the Roos is heading to Canberra mid-January to further his school teaching career.
The good news cricket-wise is that the 26-year-old Wodonga South Primary School teacher will see out the whole of cricket season 2024-2025 at Ball Park. But it won’t be so for the 60 senior football gamer with the Roos.
“I love football and cricket but probably enjoy cricket a little more,” the superfit Wilson told The Free Press.
“We’re very lucky to have Benny Mitchell as our captain. He’s really good as a coach. And (co-coach) Daniel Athanitis makes his presence felt.”
Corowa football coach Daryn Cresswell also received praise from Wilson.
“I think ‘Crezza’s doing a good job, been recruiting well and I reckon they’ll play finals, no worries.”
