CFA chief officer Jason Heffernan officially opened the new Nagambie fire station on Wednesday, March 2.

The $1.59 million facility — which unofficially opened in June 2020 — replaces the former station, and also houses the headquarters for the Tabilk Group, which encompasses five brigades in the region.
“We’ve got brigades standing on their own two feet, protecting their local communities and putting them at the centre of everything they do,” Mr Heffernan said.
“It gives me absolute pleasure to come and visit facilities like this.”
The new station includes three large motor-room bays, a large brigade meeting room and separate turn-out rooms.
There are also change facilities for men and women.
Nagambie Fire Brigade captain Allen Treble said the new facility was “purpose-built” for the region the station serves.
“In our old station we couldn’t fit large appliances, so now we can use more modern appliances so we can serve and protect the community,” he said.
“It’s not just Nagambie Fire Brigade station, it is our community station.”
The opening was delayed multiple times due to COVID-19 and Mr Heffernan said it was a great opportunity to acknowledge the work of the Nagambie brigade.
“This new station will be an asset to the thriving Nagambie brigade, allowing our volunteers to continue doing what they do best – protecting lives and property,” he said.
