Traffic alert | Drummond Rd drainage upgrade hits a roadblock

Motorists travelling through Greater Shepparton can breathe a sigh of relief — at least for the moment — as Drummond Rd has reopened after extensive drainage upgrade works.

However, the respite will be short-lived, with construction slated to recommence on January 6.

Significant progress has been made on the new drainage system along Drummond Rd, particularly from Joseph Baldwin Pl, with asphalting finished by early December.

Yet, recent storm events and the presence of unforeseen underground services have delayed work near the intersection of Drummond Rd and New Dookie Rd.

As the year draws to a close, all operations at this intersection will pause until the new year.

Once work resumes in January, the northbound section of Drummond Rd, starting from Joseph Baldwin Pl, will be closed for about two weeks as crews finalise the remaining upgrades.

Work is scheduled from 7am to 8pm, Monday through Friday, weather permitting.

Local businesses will maintain access for customers, with traffic controllers managing the New Dookie Rd modifications, though delays are expected.

Greater Shepparton City Council anticipates completing the drainage project by the end of January.
