Community consultation on the next budget closes this Friday, December 20.
The council’s budget sets out how resources will be prioritised over the next financial year to deliver over 120 services to the community, along with maintenance, renewal and upgrade of $1.9 billion of community assets.
The council is encouraging community members to provide feedback on what they’d like to see included in the 2025-26 budget.
Anyone interested can do so via a survey on the Shaping Greater Shepparton website.
“This is the community’s chance to provide their feedback and tell us what they would like to see funded next financial year,” City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said.
“If there is a particular project which needs support, any upgrades to infrastructure or community facilities across the region, or funding for major programs, we want to hear about it.
“Community feedback has led to many projects being funded in recent years, including lighting at the Victoria Park Lake skate park, renewal of the Shepparton Heritage Centre and a concept design and associated cost plan for a new community facility at Princess Park in Shepparton.”
Cr Sali encouraged people to have their say while the consultation period was open and help shape the next budget.
When filling out the survey online, community members will be given the option to request to present their feedback in person to councillors in February.
The budget document will be developed, taking community feedback into account, and finally adopted by council in June 2025.
The budget consultation survey is open to all Greater Shepparton residents until Friday.
