Afternoon tea recognises Peter’s impact

Many people gathered at the Deniliquin High School on Tuesday to acknowledge and celebrate Peter Humphries’ many contributions during his 37-year career at Deni High.

Originally planned to be held in the school’s multi function room, celebrations were moved to the multi purpose centre auditorium due to the sheer number of people wishing to attend.

The hall’s walls had several class, school and year photos from Peter’s four decades in teaching.

The canteen staff made a beautiful afternoon tea including sandwiches, scones, slices, pastries, refreshments and much more for attendees in honour of Peter.

Donna Van Leishout began the formalities, starting with a list of apologies and messages from community members and former colleagues.

Principal Glen Warren and science faculty leads Michelle Hindricks and Alex Glowrey also spoke, as did Anthony Michael on behalf of former colleagues and Lyn Bond on behalf of two former students.

Peter then took to the podium himself to give thanks and an overview of his career.
