The club was first formed on the November 1, 1997 after receiving sponsorship from the Rochester Rotary Club to create the group.
Around 50 club members and guests gathered at the Tongala Hotel to commemorate the occasion.
The day started with a welcome from the club president before recognising 18 members who have achieved 10, 15 and 20 years as club members.
The celebratory cake made by Tongala Bakery, was cut by Glyn Francis, a life member of the club who travelled from Melbourne for the occasion.
The club president, Joan Jenkins said it was a chance for all members, both active and non-active, to enjoy each other's company.
“Probus stands for fun, friendship and fellowship, so the club just love getting together and supporting one another and catching up,” she said.
“It really helped Glyn Francis and those in Tongala aged care to see the members because they only see the ones that visit them, but they got to interact with the group which was fabulous.”
The club currently has 79 active members and frequently hosts events.
The group are always open to new members and allow guests to come to a few meetings to try it out first.
