Shepparton beats Seymour in GVL under-18 football competition

Shepparton's Goulburn Valley League under-18 football side put in an even four-quarter performance to defeat Seymour at Deakin Reserve on Saturday.

Despite the Lions leading by two points at the first change, the Bears kicked 12 goals to seven after quarter-time to win 14.8 (92) to 9.7 (61).

Lachlan Howard (four goals), Tanner Madigan (two) and Xavier Down (two) were the multiple goal-kickers for the Bears, while Tom Barnes (three goals), Nicholas Quigg (two) and Oliver Munro (two) were the Lions’ biggest contributors in front of goal.

Shepparton Swans also won by 31 points, defeating Euroa 12.12 (84) to 8.5 (53).

James Auld kicked four goals for the Swans, taking his season tally to 19 goals.

Liam Morrison and Christian Georgiou kicked two each.

For the Magpies, Joshua Robertson, who was Euroa's best player, and Nic Asquith kicked two each.

Kyabram defeated Benalla by 99 points.

The Bombers won 18.13 (121) to 3.4 (22), with Bohden Learmonth and Liam Scopelliti both booting four goals.

Mitchell Antonello, Jasper De Fazio and Blake Booker were the Saints’ goal-kickers.

Tatura let a 16-point first-quarter lead go as they lost to Shepparton United.

The Bulldogs led 24 to 8 at quarter-time, but conceded five goals in the second to trail by 10 points at the main break.

United then kicked nine goals to two after the major interval to run away with a 15.8 (98) to 7.1 (43) win.

Samuel Adams kicked four goals for the Demons and Kian Roche added three.

Will Russell now has 11 goals for the season, after kicking three in the loss.
