The Cats sit in second last position on the ladder, while the Bulldogs are one spot out of the top six, but the pair will be hellbent on claiming bragging rights at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve.
Mooroopna has experienced a whirlwind opening month, clinching an incredible win on arguably the competition’s toughest away trip — Mansfield — in round two, but two disappointing losses have followed.
Meanwhile, Tatura bounced back from its difficult loss to Echuca in round three with a strong win against Rochester and was able to get back to its trademark run and carry.
Billy Cooper, Nick Fothergill and Sean Martin were the standouts for the Bulldogs last week and former AFL player Jason Tutt found plenty of the ball.
Mooroopna has had solid contributions in recent weeks from ruckman Max Daunt, youngster Ajak Dang and midfielder Kai Madgwick.
The Cats had multiple injuries out of last week’s Anzac Day loss to Shepparton United, with captain Matt Deane flown to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne with a injury to his throat and Bayden Fallon and Tom Brennan needing stitches post-game.
‘‘This week has been really positive within the playing group, everyone’s ready and looking forward to getting back out this weekend,’’ Mooroopna coach Dale Osborne said.
‘‘We are looking forward to the opportunity to be playing at home again hopefully get the win over our arch rival.
‘‘They (Tatura) are a really good running side and we will need to slow them down and control the game.’’
