It’s Dean’s second straight national team selection for the junior world championships, but the 2021 team bound for Peru were forced to remain patient after the championships were cancelled as a result of COVID-19.
Now Dean, a Shooting Australia Pathways Squad Member, will get her chance to compete and said she’s excited to try and improve herself on the world stage.
“I'd like to shoot a personal best,” Dean said.
"I’d just like to keep improving at every international competition, because the more you shoot at competitions, the more you gain that experience, and the better you shoot.“
Dean will travel out to Sydney and Queensland for competition training before jetting off to Germany, with the events scheduled to kick off on May 10, running until May 19.
“I'm very excited,” Dean said.
“We're doing quite a bit of training. This is my second Junior World Championships, and it's a different kettle of fish because I already know what to expect.
“The first centred around learning and now that I'm familiar with it I think it will be really good.”
Earlier in 2021, Dean was also selected as a member of the new Shooting Australia National Pathways Squad.
The squad is one of three tiers of a new-look national squad, with the pathways squad dedicated to those considered capable of achieving higher honours who have demonstrated commitment to succeed in the sport.
