Pine Lodge car crash: Four dead following accident near Shepparton
One of the two survivors of a crash which killed four people at Pine Lodge on Wednesday afternoon are in a stable condition in a Melbourne hospital.

Four people died in the crash at the intersection of Cosgrove-Lemnos Rd and Pine Lodge North Rd, where it’s believed a Toyota Hilux and a Peugeot car collided, with the car ending up in a nearby paddock.

Their condition is yet to be confirmed.
Victoria police Acting Assistant Commissioner Justin Goldsmith told the ABC on Thursday morning anyone in that sort of crash would be in "an enormous amount of shock“.
"It's a really high-speed accident, the impact would have been almost beyond comprehension," he said.
"It's not a busy area, it's got traffic signs, so something has clearly gone awry and that's going to be the subject of the investigation as to how those two cars have collided.“
The roads are bitumen and are believed to be in a decent condition.
Acting Assistant Commissioner Goldsmith said investigators will examine the intersection where the collision occurred, and whether anything could be done to improve it.
He said police were not aware of any witnesses and that the investigation was expected to take several days.
Transport Minister Ben Carroll said authorities would upgrade the intersection if needed.
"It's a terrible, terrible incident that has occurred," he told reporters in Brunswick on Thursday.
"We'll let Victoria Police get on with their job of coming to grips with what has actually occurred at this intersection.
"Any detail, any information, anything we can do to make that intersection safer, we will."
Police will address the media later today.
WEDNESDAY, 6.15pm: Four people have died in a collision in Pine Lodge on Wednesday.
It’s believed a car and a ute collided on Pine Lodge North Road, near Cosgrove-Lemnos Road, at about 4.45pm.
The driver of the ute was not seriously injured and stopped to assist at the scene.
Four of the five people in the car have died, while the driver has been airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.
The car ended up in a nearby paddock, according to police.
The exact cause of the collision is yet to be determined.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are en route to the scene.
Roads are closed in the area.

EARLIER: Emergency services are on the scene of a crash at Pine Lodge this evening.
It’s believed a car and a ute collided at the intersection of Cosgrove-Lemnos Rd and Pine Lodge North Rd in Pine Lodge at about 4.40pm.
Roads in the area are closed and emergency services, including Search and Rescue Shepparton, are on the scene.
