The Murray Leadership Program initiative is designed to empower health professional managers and aspiring leaders.
The participants, led by GOTAFE professional and creative services acting coordinator Kerri Symes, were provided practical tools and support to identify their unique leadership strengths and develop skills that would help them become sustainable leaders in the future.
The program is invaluable for fostering growth and ensuring that future leaders are equipped to handle the challenges in the healthcare sector.
On behalf of the Murray Health Partnership, Kerang District Health chief executive officer Kellie Byron-Gray congratulated participants and educators for delivering another fantastic program for emerging leaders.
Ms Byron-Gray provided an overview of the key priorities of the Loddon Mallee Health Network including a commitment towards ongoing leadership development, which is also referenced in the Victorian Health Services Plan.
“It is so wonderful to observe staff developing key skills throughout the program and see what they do with their projects back in their respective health services,” she said.
Echuca Regional Health executive director of people and culture Angela Hussey commented in her opening address on the importance of partnering across the region to enable sustainable and broad-reaching leadership development.
“This type of collaboration not only opens up development opportunities and career paths for the participants but increases the leadership talent pool our region can access,” Ms Hussey said.
“We are really proud of the success of this program with a total of 60 participants having completed over the past two years.”
The Murray Leadership Program has been running successfully for two years with preparation commenced for the next group of leaders in February 2025.
