Artists donated their time to create artwork which were donated to the gallery and sold for $100.
Yarrawonga Mulwala Artists Association member Margaret Fisher said the fundraiser was a great success with YMAA hoping that the total can be added to, with several artworks still available.
“Friends in Common was chosen as it is a local organization helping local people with all money going direct to locals and emotional support is given,” Ms Fisher said.
“Petrol vouchers are given to those traveling for cancer treatments and help can be arranged if accommodation is needed for those who need it while in treatment.
“Around 50 clients are looked after most of the time and we hope that we will be able to add to the total with lots of quality paintings still available.
“Come into the gallery at 26 Hovel St and have a look!”
Yarrawonga Friends in Common Treasurer Chris Gardner said that YFIC sincerely thank the Yarrawonga Mulwala Artists Association for this generous donation.
“As we do not receive any government grants, we rely entirely on the support of the local community, clubs and groups like the Artists Association to be able to provide fuel vouchers, accomodation and emotional support to local people who are undergoing cancer treatment,” Ms Gardner said.
“It is such a stressful time when diagnosed then having to travel out of town for treatment. Friends in Common can help to alleviate some of that stress so that our clients can concentrate getting better.
“Friends in Common is run entirely by volunteers who tirelessly raise funds and assist our clients so any donations and support to keep this service going are gratefully received.
“We again thank the Yarrawonga Mulwala Artists Association for this wonderful donation.”
