Residents and ratepayers can bring one load of green waste (up to 300kg) and dispose it of for free from noon to 3.45pm on the weekend of October 26-27.
This initiative aims to provide an opportunity for residents to responsibly dispose of green waste, including lawn clippings, branches, garden prunings, and raw timber offcuts, at no cost.
To ensure efficient disposal, residents are requested to bring only green waste during the specified hours.
Mixing green waste with other materials may complicate disposal procedures.
It's important to note that only raw timber in its natural form will be accepted as green waste.
Machined timber will not be accepted for free disposal. Additionally, stumps must be less than 40cm in diameter and 1m in length to be eligible for disposal.
This free green waste disposal weekend is exclusively for domestic customers. Vehicles permitted for green waste disposal include sedans, utes, and trailers (up to dual-wheel tandem).
Trucks and tippers, classified as commercial quantities, are not eligible for free disposal.
A Benalla Rural City Council spokesperson said it encourages all eligible residents to take advantage of this opportunity.
